PeopleSoft
Compass Methodology is six-phase procedure
used to achieve fast and well-structured
implementations, optimizations, and upgrades
of PeopleSoft Enterprise. The following
link contains an overview of this methodology
that we've condensed from the original and
modified to reflect GrayCell's unique contributions
to this process.For

PeopleSoft Implementation Methodology
GrayCell
uses PeopleSoft's Compass Methodology to
ensure that the implementation, optimization
and upgrades are done right. The project
is broken into multiple high-value components
with defined scope, predictable results
and clear deliverables.
1. Strategize
We assess
your corporate objectives and business drivers
in order to understand your critical business
processes, current infrastructure, and application
portfolio. We look at your goals and business
drivers, examine your needs, and then determine
how to enhance your competitive advantage
using the appropriate PeopleSoft applications.
At the end of this phase,
we give you two critical deliverables:
- An Executive Strategic
Outline that includes
a comprehensive list of your organization's
major business drivers and business objectives.
- A
High-Level Assessment of the major
features to be included to achieve your
business objectives.
2. Plan
We build
a framework for the team's understanding
of the project and a way to measure performance
based upon your project mission, strategic
objectives, and business drivers.
The deliverables you'll have
at the end of this phase include:
- A
framework for
the project charter, explaining how the
project will be conducted.
- A
list of objectives for the project.
- An
initial project
plan with key milestones and defined
deliverables.
3. Structure
We
work with you to establish the framework
for your project. From the information gathered
in the Planning phase, we'll identify, analyze,
and prioritize any affected business processes
in order to assess the software fit within
this context. We'll show you how the Internet
will impact your business processes, enabling
you to make decisions for gap solutions.
- Documented your
business needs and identified and prioritized
affected business processes.
- Assessed
the fit of the software solution and identified
gap solutions.
- Developed
a comprehensive technical architecture
strategy and scope.
- Defined
the technical and functional specifications
for the project.
- Developed
a training plan for your project team.
- Finalized
the project charter and scope.
4. Construct
We
work closely with you to design, build,
and configure your new system. As part of
this work, we'll help you conduct initial
system tests, prepare critical plans, and
write your documentation.
Your deliverables for this
phase include:
- Constructed
workflows and expected outputs.
- Complete
test plans.
- A
production support plan.
- A
"go-live" contingency plan.
- A
fully configured system into which
you can load historical and current data.
5. Transition
We help you
prepare to go live, updating and finalizing
system configurations as well as the setup
of base tables; preparing the production
environment; and conducting final user,
system, performance, and parallel tests
to verify that all data is converted, ensuring
a smooth transition into production. We'll
also help you determine a training approach
for your end users, design training materials
and a training environment, and conduct
train-the-trainer sessions.
When we're
finished, you'll have:
- A
fully tested, production-ready system.
- A
complete end user training approach ready
for rollout.
- A
tested cutover plan.
6. Deploy
Once your
PeopleSoft system is live, GrayCell's PeopleSoft
consultants can remain with you in a support
mode, helping you make the transition, troubleshooting
potential problems, teaching you how to
maximize the value of the system you just
deployed, and identifying next-step opportunities
for your business. At the end of this phase,
you will have:
- Closed
the legacy system and turned on your PeopleSoft
system.
- Moved
all project support activities to
your production support team.
- Trained
your users.
- Received
"go-live" support from GrayCell's
PeopleSoft Consultants for the
first month's close of business-or longer-if
you choose to have this support.
