At GrayCell we follow ASAP (AcceleratedSAP), a step-by-step methodology for speeding up the implementation of an SAP R/3 system. The components of ASAP, which can be used together or individually, are called accelerators. Accelerators are based on the best practices of SAP customers from around the world and consist of a number of templates, questions, and scenarios that require user input to help the user determine the best way to implement their R/3 system. According to SAP literature, ASAP can reduce the time required to implement an R/3 system by as much as 50%.For more details on ASAP methodology, click here

GrayCell's Adherence To ASAP Methodologies
Leads To Faster & More Cost-Effective SAP Solution Implementation

GrayCell is a leader in applying ASAP, SAP's rapid implementation solution specifically designed to streamline and standardize the implementation process to achieve mission critical business functionality as soon as possible

Accelerated SAP (ASAP) provides optimal speed of implementation, high quality and efficient use of resources. While ASAP allows you to exploit the value of R/3 as quickly as possible, it also lays the foundation for continuous improvement. That's why ASAP supports the entire lifecycle and not only the initial implementation. Even if you have not used ASAP for the implementation, it can still help you implement additional business processes in R/3 or optimize existing ones. And the special Roadmap of ASAP for upgrades tells you exactly what to do and what to test, ensuring that you update your R/3 System in the most efficient way.

A very important aspect about ASAP is that it supports the entire team, both internal team members from the customer and external consultants: project management, business process consultants and the technical areas. Previously, the technical project management was often neglected or the focus was entirely on tools and did not adequately emphasize the methodology.

The Roadmap is a methodology and project plan with detailed descriptions about:

  • What, why and how certain activities are performed, and who performs them.
  • It makes sure that nothing is left out and that project management plans well in advance for the execution of activities such as end-user training.

On the technical side, the Roadmap addresses areas like:

  • Interfaces and data conversion and the usage of Ready-To-Run R/3, SAPs pre-configured BASIS system to jump-start your technical implementation.
  • Wherever possible, ASAP provides examples, checklists, or templates, for instance, a cutover plan. ASAP calls these documents Accelerators. They are used in any type of implementation, even when you do not use all ASAP elements.

The Roadmap consists of 5 phases:

  • Project Preparation
  • Business Blueprint
  • Realization
  • Final Preparation
  • Go Live/Continuous Change

Tools include ASAP-specific tools to support project management, questionnaires to help define business process requirements, checklists and many other tools to simplify your implementation (Report Navigator, technical guidebooks etc.).

Many accelerator files are provided in Microsoft Project or other MS Office products. ASAP provides the files, all you need is the software to use them. You can also access all configuration tools directly from ASAP, like the Implementation Guide.

This means that as of release 4.0b a process-oriented configuration of the R/3-system directly from the ASAP desktop tool is possible. Moreover, you can visualize the processes of the Reference Model using specific viewers that are free-of-charge within ASAP or within R/3. ASAP does not re-invent existing tools, it uses them as part of the solution.

R/3 Service and Training includes all consulting, education, and support activities. EarlyWatch, remote upgrade, Quality reviews or Going Live checks are just part of the service palette that ensures total quality and allows you to actively tune your R/3 System. These services help to standardize certain consulting tasks to perform them as quickly as possible.

ASAP also supports knowledge management. For instance you can attach your own documents at every level within the Roadmap and the Question & Answer Database. Moreover ASAP provides you with many predefined documentation templates (e.g. Business Process Procedures). It supports the role orientation throughout the lifecycle, including role-oriented training and user authorizations.

At GrayCell, we know how to combine skills and methodology to create a cohesive program for your live SAP system. We bring the right mix of strategy, people, process, and technology to your SAP projects, on however large or small a scale is necessary.
